FAQ

What is the difference between counselling and PSychotherapy?

Counselling and psychotherapy share many similarities. Generally, counselling is a shorter-term treatment that often focusses on the now and on behaviour change. Psychotherapy tends to be longer-term and focusses on gaining insight into complex emotional and, sometimes, physical problems. WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE?

After completing my training at AUT University, which included working in the student clinic on campus and a placement at Lifespan Counselling and Rehab, I worked in tele-health at Whakarongorau Aotearoa. Following this, I spent 3 years at Man Alive, a men’s counselling organisation located in Henderson and Panmure. While there, I supported individuals with a wide range of difficulties and delivered living without violence programmes. I now work in private practice in Mt Eden. I have also worked in a research capacity for AUT.
